Husband, Father, Opinionist and occasional Martini drinker.. Sport, music, clothes & scoots.  – so says my Twitter bio, but times they are a changing.

Flashback to May 2012, I helped out as support team for friends tackling a John O’Groats – Land’s End cycle ride. In the pub on the last night I announced I was going to attempt my own challenge, to ride Coast to Coast.

Fast forward to 2015 and despite a few conversations I was still no closer to getting off my backside and starting to plan.

Then in late summer 2015 I received the diagnosis from my doctor that I had bladder cancer. The Fight Bladder Cancer website and support group are such a great source of information and strength to me (and my family) that I wanted to give something back.

Put it all together and the seed was planted. From 1st to 3rd July “Team Rocky” will make it’s way from Morecambe to Scarborough on a 160 mile journey, hopefully raising awareness and a little bit of money.

This is that story..

Just seen your picture in the Scarborough News and decided to reply and send a donation. I only live 10 minutes from Osgodby, I am recovering from bladder cancer surgery and until I saw the article I didn’t know that there was a fight bladder cancer charity. As a result I will now get in contact with them and see if I can help further. Many thanks and keep up the fight.

      David,
Thank you so much for the comment and donation. Let me know if you need any contact details and I’ll pass them on. The support group is brilliant and really does help. Chances are whatever we face, someone else has already gone through and can offer support or advice.

      Good luck with your recovery,

      Rich
